Google Holding Chrome OS Event Thursday

Chrome OS just might be one of the most disruptive forces in the PC arena in quite some time. It will be very interesting to see what the capability of a Chrome powered machine will be. As mentioned on TWiT a couple of weeks ago, there is a bit of a mixed message at this point with Android being used as an OS for netbooks and Chrome coming out as a rather thin client as well.
My hunch is that they will both have their place. Android could the very thin client used in phones and netbook style PC’s while Chrome could be the attack on the mainstream (including corporate) that Microsoft is gearing up for.
Google is planning to hold a special Chrome OS event at its headquarters in Mountain View, CA this Thursday morning, we’ve just been notified. The plan is to give some technical background information as well as show off some demos, we’re told. More notably, they will be giving a “complete overview” of the new OS, which they say will launch next year.
As we mentioned back in April 2009, the Google PC is coming.
