Hicks’ loan default casts shadow on Rangers, Stars
It isn’t too often that the amount of leverage in pro sports is discussed. There are many teams across every sports league who carry a great deal of debt. In some cases, that debt is backed by the league and used to quietly support the owner’s spending. In the case of Tom Hicks, the signing of A-Rod to the 10 year $252 million dollar contract was likely the turning point for his operations.
