UAW, Chrysler and Fiat reach concession deal
Big news regarding Chrysler. As with GM and, to a lesser extent Ford, Chrysler is in dire need of restructuring to help them to become competitive. The unions have a grip on the automakers that won’t allow for anything other than bankruptcy of all 3 without concessions. Well, some of the concessions came today. Let’s hope that is enough.
Bankruptcy is an option for the automakers. It will take a situation in which the unions see that the post bankruptcy is horrible. It almost appears as if they believe the automakers are bluffing. Not the case. Give some slack.
Chrysler LLC cleared another major obstacle to its survival Sunday when it reached a tentative deal for concessions with the United Auto Workers union.
