I love when SEO companies call me! Love it! I enjoy talking to them about the happy clients they say they have like and the great keyword positions they have for phrases like “jacksonville quilter” or “des moines carpet cleaner”. But I really enjoy asking them these simple questions…
1. You guys are in the SEO business right?
ANSWER: ABSOLUTELY!
2. So because you guys are in the SEO business, to be really good you must do well on SEO terms right?
ANSWER: AHHH YEAH.
3. So if I went to Google, and typed in the three letters SEO, you guys will show up at the top right??
ANSWER: AHHHHHH…….
4. How about we go to Google and see?
ANSWER: AHHHHH……I think I have another phone call coming in.
The point is this. I don’t understand how these companies claim to be good at SEO if they do not show up well when you type in the words SEO. If you are tired of hearing from these SEO companies who say they are good at SEO, I recommend this line of questioning. If they do show up on the first or even second page. They are worth talking to. But, if they do not, Chances are you can build your own page and get better results for your website than the “experts” can.
